Just found out that Ella received SEISC 2nd Team All Conference Honors!  Congratulations Ella!

The end of the season finally arrived.  The varsity team fought hard but lost to IMS in a tough 2nd round District game.

Emily had her last game last night.  Hard one against a very good Washington Team.  She did a great job pitching and hitting and I am very proud of her and her season.  Ella has played in Urbandale (lost both), WACO (won) and Mepo (lost).  The season is winding down and postseason will start on the 6th (I think, without looking at the schedule) with a game against Iowa Valley at home.  Good Luck Lady Lions!

Since the last post Ella has played IMS (lost), Highland (won), and Wapello (lost).  Emily played a double header against Wellman and split with them.  Emily's season is coming to an end with one league game left on Thursday and then into tournaments.

Double header Varsity....First vs. Pekin lost 5-8....Second vs. West Burlington lost 1-6.  Enough said for tonight.  On to tomorrow.

Better night on the softball front.  Gary and I had to split duty....I traveled to Kalona to watch Emily and Gary to LM to watch the Lady Lions.  Emily played well.  She pitched two innings and had 3 strikeouts.  No hits but did have the chance to slide into home twice!  Loves getting dirty.  The U12 team won 20-12.

I have yet to talk to Gary or Ella for details but it sounds like the Lady Lions had a much better night.  They won 10-0 in 6 innings.

Lady Lions took on Columbus Junction Wildcats on a stormy evening but fell in defeat.  The Lady Lions had a hard time getting the ball in play.  Ella had a nice hit but did not see much action in the field.  Not to worry because we have another game tomorrow evening at LM.

Didn't want you to think that we had given up our love of softball!  Ella is a starter on the Lady Lions Varsity Team.  She plays center field and loves it.  She has always been an infielder but tried her hand at outfield when she was an 8th grader and was waiting her turn to pitch for the Varsity and found out that she loves it!  Ella did give up (or at least is trying to give up) pitching.  While this makes me a bit sad it does open the door for Emily.  Emily is on the Lone Tree U12 Team and gets a chance to play an assortment of positions.  She is trying her hand at pitching and has found that so far she likes it.  Rain has delayed several games this week which should make for very interesting and hectic weeks to come but I do very much enjoy watching softball and of course being a secret food critic for our conference concession stands :)
